About This Spot

Stepping into Die Cafetière feels like discovering a well-kept secret in the heart of Vienna’s bustling city center. Nestled on Wipplingerstraße, this coffee shop exudes a quietly confident charm that invites you to slow down and savor the moment. Whether you choose to settle inside among hints of 1960s-inspired decor or take a seat on the cozy outdoor terrace, the atmosphere balances a relaxed urban pace with subtle warmth.

The space reveals itself gradually—from the comforting scent of freshly ground coffee beans to the inviting hum of quiet conversation and soft clinks of porcelain cups. Here, the ritual of coffee feels considered and unhurried, where each cup is crafted to highlight smooth, nuanced flavors rather than rush you through your day.

Beyond just a spot for your caffeine fix, the café offers moments that linger—the whisper of a perfectly toasted sandwich infused with local character or the delicate crunch of an almond croissant that pairs beautifully with a creamy cappuccino. These little details become part of your visit, encouraging you to pause and embrace the simple pleasures.

What makes this place special is how it feels simultaneously familiar and unique—a neighborhood coffee shop with a distinct voice. Regulars and visitors alike find comfort in its thoughtful service and welcoming vibe, returning not only for the quality of the coffee but for the genuine human moments lived here. In Vienna's center, Die Cafetière quietly stands apart, a spot where discovery and routine blend seamlessly over shared tables and steaming cups.

Ordered 2 iced lattes and the coffee was not bitter at all, really smooth just to my liking! Came with a small glass of water as well which was appreciated. Cosy outdoor and indoor seating. Would recommend!

You want the best quality local coffee and experience in Vienna, you found it here, hands down the best. The beans roast is very much unique and the coffee taste is magnificent. Ever in Vienna you gotta try this place.

I haven’t been everywhere in Vienna, but this place truly has amazing coffee and heavenly pastries! Absolutely incredible! It’s right in the city center, yet it feels like a trendy local café. You can sit outside or inside — the area around the bar has a wonderful atmosphere, inspired by the 1960s. Highly recommended!

Nice cozy coffee shop with good coffee and pastries. Very interesting design of the further part of the cafe. In summer you can sit on the outside terrace which looks very cozy too. Staff was nice and friendly. Definitely would come back for a cup of coffee when next time in Vienna.

I’m a pastry lover and so I have high standards when it comes to pastries. For me, after dining at multiple cafes, the top pastry place in Vienna is L’Amour Du Pain. Since that is number 1 on my list, every place gets compared to that. Die Cafetière serves excellent pastries that are on par with LADP but has a slightly less buttery taste. Also, the pastries are quite a bit more expensive than LADP. This could be because it’s located in an expensive rental area. I paid €11.20 for 2 pastries whereas I would typically pay about €13 for 2 pastries and a coffee at LADP. Food-aside, the seating area is decent with a good number of tables and chairs. The service is good and the staff are friendly - something that I find to be a rare sight in Vienna. Would I come back? Sure, if I was in the area. But comparing the 2 places, you’d find me at L’Amour Du Pain 9/10 times.

It's a great coffee shop.the staffs are really nice here and coffee is also very good. The front hall looks small, but the space behind it is very large. So don't worry about not finding a seat. I really like the mid century modern design of the lobby. I highly recommend this place.

Lovely café not far from the city center! The pistachio croissant was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was great too. Cozy and quiet atmosphere, with all the tables being different — such a cute detail! You even walk through the kitchen to get to the main room, which makes it feel really homey. Definitely recommend!
